SCHOOL VISITS
School visits are so much fun for me because I get to involve students in hands-on storytelling through art. The program begins with a short discussion of the art of Romare Bearden and what storytelling collage is. We then read the book, focusing on how the experiences of the character James are captured in collage painting. I then work with the children to help them create their own collages books about an experience from their own lives. I tailor the detail level of the program to the age of the students, keeping it very simple for preschoolers through second grade, and engaging older children in more detailed bookmaking. My experience has been that children at any elementary grade level get a tremendous amount from this program.

Fees:
Per each one hour session $150
(I provide all art materials)

One full day consisting of four $500
One-hour sessions

For out-of-town visits, travel expenses are additional
